Both an ARTAS patient and provider, Zakery is an expert in the hair restoration process. He attended the Physician Assistant Program at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Health Science. He achieved his Masters of Physician Assistant Sciences in May of 2010. He has worked closely with Dr. Brian Vassar Heil at Premier Plastic Surgery since September 2010. Zakery is nationally certified by the NCCPA and licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Association of Plastic Surgery Physician Assistants (APSPA). Here at the Center for Hair Restoration, Zakery specializes in hair consultations, before & after procedure care, graft extraction, platelet rich-plasma injection and medicinal management of hair loss.
A Cranberry native, Carey was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate degree and received her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the New York Institute of Technology in 2014. Carey has a background in Vascular and Neurosurgery. She joined our Plastic Surgery team in August 2019. As part of our Hair Restoration team, Carey specializes in control of the ARTAS® robotic system user-interface and Platelet-rich-plasma injections.
Joseph and Dennis Hernandez are invaluable members of our hair restoration team. Hair transplantation surgery literally "runs in their family." These brothers from Houston are highly skilled grafting technicians from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Joseph has over 17 years of experience in hair restoration surgery and was the lead training technician for Medical Hair and the Hair Club for Men. Dennis trained at Bosley, worked as a training technician with HISHRS, and has over 11 years of experience in hair transplant surgery. They have been members of our Hair Restoration Team since 2013. At the Center for Hair Restoration, Joseph and Dennis specialize in graft extraction, inspection, site-creation and implantation.
A Pittsburgh native, Karen worked as an office manager for State Farm Insurance for 28 years. In 2009, she moved into the surgical field after graduating from the Community College of Allegheny County as a Certified Surgical Technician. Karen has worked side-by-side with Dr. Brian V. Heil in the operating room for over a decade. She spent five years "scrubbed" into surgery at UPMC Passavant Hospital before finding home at Premier Plastic Surgery in 2014. Demonstrating outstanding commitment and invaluable work ethic, Karen continues to operate regularly with Dr. Heil while managing patients at the Center for Hair Restoration. Karen specializes in controlling the ARTAS robotic user interface during hair transplantation surgery.
Richard-Tyler Jones is a passionate healthcare provider who has helped raise awareness and donations in support of ending breast cancer, SIDS, scleroderma and other rare diseases. Working with Par for the Cure, and the Scleroderma and SIDS foundations, he has also lobbied to increase care for patients suffering from these illnesses. A graduate of Westminster College and Duquesne University, he has spent the majority of his time working in emergency rooms throughout Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. Throughout his years in practice, he has cared for several thousand patients of all ages, from infants to seniors with his youngest patient being a week old, and his oldest being 105 years old. Most recently, he was among our nation’s front line heroes who provided life-saving care during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Richard’s years of clinical experience in previous high-stress critical care settings help him provide best-in-class service to our patients as he puts their needs at the forefront.
My name is Cory Alter, and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Program Coordinator of the B. Vassar Heil Hair Restoration Center here at Premier Plastic Surgery. I have had the distinct honor and privilege to have worked with Dr Heil in various capacities since 2010. Some of you I've known since then, and others, I greatly look forward to meeting!
My experience with hair began whenever my Great Grandfather, who came through Ellis Island from Czechoslovakia at only 7 years old, learned how to cut hair in the Navy during WWII. Whenever he came back, he opened his own barber shop in Tarentum, PA. His daughter, my "Granny Franny," was then a hair stylist with her own business, as was my mom. I grew up around aesthetics of hair, and can recall many of their clients coming in to have tedious cuts and styling sessions due to recessions, to have their hair pieces cleansed and styled, and even some who had given up altogether and just wanted a clean shave of their whole head.
Looking back now on those memories, I am thrilled to be serving you in this new capacity. No longer is hair loss a part of life, it's an option! Speaking of options, we have everything imaginable for your specific concerns. From topical and oral nutritional supplements, to laser therapy and PRP, to complete restoration, we are able to address all of your needs no matter what stage of the journey you are in.
As I said before, I have worked with Dr Heil since 2010. As my boss, my mentor, and my friend. He and I share not only our passion for the best outcome, but our dedication to fostering a lasting and pleasant relationship with you. That said...

Christina hails from New York City. She graduated from Wagner College in 2002 with her degree in Physician Assistant Sciences. She joined the Plastic Surgery Team at Premier in May 2011, operating side-by-side by Dr. Brian Vassar Heil.
Andrea graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 with undergraduate degrees in Business Management and Economics. She later went on to achieve her Masters of Physician Assistant Sciences in 2017 from Marywood University. Andrea is nationally certified by the NCCPA and licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Her focuses at Premier Plastic Surgery and Acqua Blu Medical Spa include surgical care, injectable treatments, laser therapy and feminine rejuvenation.

Dr. Brian V. Heil founded Premier Plastic Surgery more than 18 years ago right here in Pittsburgh. With a strong educational background and board certification, he has the knowledge and skills to help you the best.
Dr. Heil graduated from Saint Vincent College Summa Cum Laude and received his Bachelors of Arts in Organic Chemistry and Bachelors of Science in Organismal Biology, while also pursuing passions in Applied Mathematics and Computer and Information Science.
He received his Doctorate of Medicine Cum Laude (Alpha Omega Alpha) from the University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine. He then completed a five-year integrated residency training program in General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as a fellowship in Micro Surgery and Thrombosis Research from the University Medical Center of Pittsburgh, one of the nation’s top plastic surgery training programs.
Doctor Heil completed the two-year board certification process through the American Board of Plastic Surgery in September 2002. He holds membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), Robert H. Ivy Society of Plastic Surgeons, Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, Pittsburgh Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. He is an active member of the Medical Spa Society, the International Medical Spa Association, the Day Spa Association, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Doctor Heil has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, which was chosen by his peers and the Castle Connolly physician-led Research Team. Castle Connolly is America’s trusted source for identifying top doctors and partners with many national and regional magazines to prove information on top doctors for consumers.
Doctor Heil has authored or co-authored more than 50 papers, abstracts, and presentations on plastic surgery related topics and has presented at numerous national and regional plastic surgery meetings. He is certified as a Surgical Laser Specialist and serves as a national trainer on the use of state-of-the-art light and laser systems, cosmetic injectables (Botox & Fillers), minimally invasive procedures, and medical spa management.
Doctor Heil founded Premier Plastic Surgery in 2001, which has grown to be one of the largest plastic surgery practices in Western Pennsylvania. Dr. Heil then expanded operations to create Acqua Blu Medical Spa and Skin Care Center, the embodiment of his fully integrated, multi-site, medical spa vision.
